A menu of other items under philosophy can be obtained by clicking on the word PHILOSOPHYnext to the word PHYSICSin the index line above. There, you will see entries for epistemology and other topics in philosophy that have captured my interest over the years. On this page, you can read about and download text on a number of philosophical topics such as the nature of science and the epistemology of science. The former consists of four essays on several aspects of science, including the ability of science to discover and/or describe reality and the relevance of science to human values.
"Religion's Heat Death Problem" discusses the religious aspects of the second law of thermodynamics and its implications for the end of the universe. You can also download an audio file of a talk I recently gave on this subject to the Non-Theist group of the Unitarian-Universalist Church of the Roanoke Valley. The talk is primarily a reading of the paper, but this is followed by about 45 minutes of very good discussion between me and the audience.
